John Wayne Shafer
John Wayne Shafer (Arthur Kipps) moved to Fort Worth from New York in January after closing the off-Broadway production of The Night They Burned Washington with Theatre World award-winner, Marianne Tatum. His last film, Y2K, was produced by MTV’s Michelle Bessey and Frank Garritano with co-star and Tony and Drama Desk nominee Sophie Hayden. Y2K has been accepted by the Film Arts Festival of Independant Cinema and will be shown in San Francisco in November. John “collects” Shakespeare festivals and has worked with the Alabama, North Carolina, and Kentucky companies. John’s Texas performance debut was with Stage West’s “blessed” production of Buck Nekkid. He enjoyed the people at Stage West so much, he stayed to work on the well received Herbal Bed. This is John’s first stage appearance at Circle, but he had his Texas directing debut here with A Delicate Balance and he is pleased to come back. In fact, he has been touched by the open warm embrace extended to him by the DFW artistic community since his arrival and would like to thank everyone. John has an MFA from Rutgers University and is currently serving as adjunct assistant professor at Tarrant County College and Texas Woman’s University.
