College of Education Website Redesign

Assisted in the design and development of the Curriculum & Instruction website redesign - http://www.coe.ilstu.edu/ci/

Dr. Dent Rhodes Instructional Web

Dr. Rhodes used this site extensively for all of the courses he taught. The previous version was extremely disorganized and incomplete, so we reorganized the content and I redesigned the entire site. He has since retired and is in the process of moving the site to a different server.

Secondary Education Program

As part of my graduate assistantship, I created the program website for the Secondary Education program in the College of Education at Illinois State University.

Texas Distance Learning Association - http://www.txdla.org

The TxDLA website had not been updated in years and we were starting to receive comments from interested persons and members to that effect. Since I developed the 2001 and 2002 conference sites, I volunteered to update the main site.

I redesigned the site in March 2002, creating a new look and feel, structure, and navigation. I solicited the content from various board members and officers, and pulled much of it from the most recent newsletter. This was an interim design while the Web Development Committee designed the new site, which was launched in Fall 2003.

George H. Brown, Professor and Theatre Professional - http://www.connectedcreativity.com/ghb/index.htm

George is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Theatre Arts department at Bradley University, as well as a theatre professional in the region. He has been collecting photos, video, and audio of his various shows. He wanted to create an online portfolio and resume (vitae) that he could keep current as he completed projects.

Being more 'geekish' than most faculty, he is fascinated with the Web and wanted to find a way to maximize it's potential in his arena. This website is a result of our collaboration.

Successful Strategies for Using Asynchronous Discussion Boards - http://www.connectedcreativity.com/Treatise/index.html

I created this site to present the research I did for my Masters treatise. I wrote a paper using the required style guidelines, but wanted the site to be more conversational. I knew that many instructors who are grappling with the differences in the online environment would benefit from my findings, as well as the shared experiences from 'veteran' instructors. I needed to present it in the environment I am promoting. I have had many requests for this site to be incorporated into various workshops and faculty development training events.

Engineering Online - http://www.connectedcreativity.com/eli/Engineering/
Electronic Showcase, TxDLA 2002 Conference

Over the past 5 years, during and after working on the CSEE Online degree program, I have had the opportunity to showcase the courses we have developed for this program. A hot topic in the world of education and instructional design is the gratuitous use of 'bells and whistles'. We describe these courses as being 'media-rich', which can be construed as 'bells and whistles', so part of my demo is to highlight the sound design and pedagogical principles behind our decision to use various media.

Of course, after I show some of the courses we have developed, I always get numerous requests for a URL so that they can show their supervisor, media tech, or administrator what we are doing. Because of limited resources and time constraints, we have not been able to get samples of this work posted on our site. So I created this site, burned it on a CD-ROM, and used it at the Electronic Showcase at the TxDLA 2002 Conference.

This is a progressive look the media used in these courses, as well as some pretty cool stuff we are currently experimenting with for current and future courses. This site is posted with permission of The Center for Distance Education at The University of Texas at Arlington.

This program was recognized as one of the best in the nation by U.S. News and World Report, Oct. 15, 2001, along with Georgia Institute of Technology, Columbia University and Stanford University.

WebMaster Advisory Committee, Texas State Technical College (TSTC - Waco), Waco, Texas.

I have participated in the Webmaster Degree Advisory Committee for the past two years. A group of web professionals meets in June to advise the director on the latest developments in Web design and development.

WebMaster Curriculum Development Committee, TSTC - Waco, Waco, Texas

I was invited to participate in a two-day DACUM workshop for the Webmaster Degree program. Six Web professionals gathered to chart the job duties, tasks, knowledge, skills, and attitudes, of a web master, designer, and developer.

Harris Methodist Health Plan, Web Planning and Design Course Curriculum Developer and Instructor.

The technical writing team at the Health Plan was given the task of creating the Plan's intranet. This course was developed to assist employees who had volunteered to create department intranet sites.
